Work will start work this spring on a £4.1 million housing scheme for Waterloo Housing Association, at Wood End in North Warwickshire.
Lovell will build 37 new houses and eight apartments at the Islington Crescent site. The new homes will be for affordable rent, shared ownership or for sale through the housing association.
They will be built on land that was previously occupied by local authority bungalows. All the new housing will achieve a ‘Very Good’ rating on the EcoHomes assessment scale for measuring a property’s environmental performance. Eco-friendly features will include provision for surface water management, whole house ventilation systems and timber windows. Gerry McNamee, development and regeneration manager at Waterloo said:
“The design of the new homes will be special and distinctive. It reflects the architectural style of local villages, with details such as cottage paned windows and use of slate and timber boarding. An orchard-style green will also give the development a rural feel.”
All rented homes will be let to residents nominated by North Warwickshire Borough Council. Homes to buy outright or to part-buy and part-rent through shared ownership will soon be available through Waterloo. The development is expected to take 60 weeks to complete.
