Gunman Robs Newsagent

A masked gunman forced a newsagent in Long Street to hand over the contents of the till.

The robbery took place at Gale newsagents in Long Street, Atherstone, at 6.20am on Wednesday. 17th May.

A Warwickshire Police spokeswoman said: “He ran into the newsagents and shouted at the man behind the counter to empty the contents of the till into a white carrier bag he was holding.

“He ran out of the shop with the contents of the till up Long Street towards the railway station.”

The robber is described as tall and slim. He was wearing a dark coloured mask or balaclava over his face.

Detectives say the robber produced a black handgun and threatened the shopkeeper before escaping with cash.

He was also wearing a grey hooded top or sweatshirt and dark coloured sweat pants and was wearing gloves.
