Town Clerk Chris Bows Out

Atherstone’s Town Clerk, Christopher Foster, retired last week after six years’ dedicated service to the town.

His work for the Town Council included the achievement of Quality Status for the Council, and successful bids for over £166,000 in grant funding for local services and facilities. He stalwartly managed the cemetery, play areas and allotments and overall carried out the administration of the Council to a very high standard.

Atherstone Town Mayor, Councillor Amanda Macchi, presented Chris with a personal gift of garden furniture on behalf the town’s 15 councillors, and said

“It has been a great pleasure for us all working with Chris. He has achieved a great deal for the Council and will be a hard act to follow. We all wish him the very best for a long and fruitful retirement”.

Sandra Cawthra, previously the Trainee Town Clerk, has achieved the qualification in Local Council Administration and has been appointed as the new Town Clerk.
