Atherstone Couple Organise Hospital Fund Raiser

Monday, September 27th, 2004 by Geoff Wilding

Grateful parents of 7-year-old Callum Hodgetts raised over £1500 at a charity event at Bodacea’s in Atherstone on Friday night (24th Sept)

Callum was struck down with a life threatening rare ear disorder known as ‘Mastoid Mascotemy’. The condition is so rare that only three cases have been reported in the past thirty years.

Mum and Dad, Kerry and Richard decided to thank Birmingham Children’s Hospital where Callum was treated by raising funds for much needed specialist equipment.

“The hospital was brilliant”, said Kerry, “We both felt that we should give something back for all the care and attention that Callum received. Without the dedication and skill of the staff we could have lost him”.

The couple, who live in St Georges Road Atherstone have pledged to continue their fund raising mission. “Our friends and neighbours have been fantastic tonight, we set a target of £1000 and in true Atherstone style they passed this and have been outstandingly generous”.
