Police are reminding motorists not to leave their keys in the ignition of unattended vehicles whilst they are defrosting after a blue Citroen C3 Desire saloon (registration BU52 7DW) was stolen from Sycamore Road in Kingsbury.
The theft happened at 08.55 hours on Wednesday 7 February, when the driver was clearing frost from the car whilst it was parked on the drive. The driver cleared the front screen and ran inside for some water to clear the rear screen leaving the engine running. When he came back out a few moments later the car was gone.
Police are keen to trace a white male aged around 18 years old, wearing a dark top who was seen in the area just before the vehicle was taken. Any witnesses are please asked to contact PC Pete Meredith at Coleshill Police Station on 01675 464 444 x3519 voicemail 10644.
Police are reminding drivers to stay with their car while it is defrosting. PC Andy Marchi said
“We appreciate that it may take a few minutes longer to get the car ready to drive on these cold mornings, but if necessary take your cup of tea out and sit in the car while it is defrosting. Remember it will cause a great deal more disruption to your day if your car is stolen and you end up having to phone work to say you will be late, and also arrange to get a replacement car.”
