Business Crime Down

Monday, February 19th, 2007 by Geoff Wilding

Latest police statistics indicate that business crime has reduced in North Warwickshire.

CI Michael Naughton said,

In the six months from 1 April to 30 September this year, business crime is down 12% when compared to the same period last year. This is great news for businesses and we will do our utmost to ensure this downward trend continues over the next six months.

As part of North Warwickshire Community Safety Partnership we work closely with partners to reduce business crime in North Warwickshire and this reduction means we have already achieved our Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership 2008 targets and are now working hard to sustain that long term.

Councillor Les Forsyth, Chair of the North Warwickshire Community Safety Partnership said,

The reductions are very pleasing and shows a good example of how partnerships can be very effective. The North Warwickshire Community Safety Partnership wants to encourage all businesses in the borough to work with us to reduce crime which impacts not only on them as a business but also on the communities of North Warwickshire.

Commercial burglary is also down by over a third with 36% less commercial burglaries compared to the same period last year.
