Mancetter News Roundup

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007 by Geoff Wilding

The Annual Parish Meeting is held in May each year and this year will be held on Tuesday 15th May at 7.00pm. This is a change to the published date and is in compliance with recommendations set by Warwickshire & West Midlands Association of Local Councils (WALC).

The Chairman of the Parish Council will present his annual report and reports are usually received from other organisations within the Parish. The meeting is then opened for questions.

Parish Council Awarded £1000 grant for Bus Shelter

Following a successful appeal against the refusal of planning permission for a replacement bus shelter in Mancetter Road, the Parish Council applied to the Area Forum (East) for a £1000 grant towards the Parish Council funds for replacing the bus shelter. The grant application was approved at a meeting of the Area Forum (East). The Parish Council has already provided the funds for two other new bus shelters, one in Mancetter; the other in Ridge Lane, and the grant will enable the Parish Council to complete the third installation.

North Arden Heritage Trail

Following the launch of the North Arden Heritage Trail Project in November last year, members of the project team have announced that Mancetter Parish will be one of the first four Parishes involved in the three-year project to establish the 25 mile circular heritage trail. Funded for three years through a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the support of the Community Partnership and Parish Councils, the trail will link the area’s fascinating local heritage and distinctive landscape. Mancetter Parish Council has said that it is pleased that it is involved in the project at such an early stage as the Parish has a strong record in maintaining and improving the Public Rights of Way Network in Mancetter and has good links with other volunteer groups around North Warwickshire.
