Dump Expansion Plans still Opposed

Saturday, March 10th, 2007 by Geoff Wilding

Grendon residents are still up in arms over controversial plans to expand a rubbish dump on the A5, adjacent to Grendon island.

Warwickshire County Council is currently siting skips on the site for residents from Tamworth and parts of North Warwickshire to dump unwanted larger items.

The residents are angry at County Council plans for an expanded waste and recycling centre.

Borough Councillor Ray Sweet, who represents Grendon, and North Warwickshire MP Mike O’Brien are backing the villagers in their fight to stop the site expansion.

A survey of 247 local people had shown that 224 objected to the planned expansion.
